How we handle your data.

Fluent ("we", "us") cares about how your data is handled. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Written in plain English.
Who we are
Fluent is a trading name of Intelligent Impact Group Ltd, registered in England & Wales. Data controller for purposes of UK GDPR.
What we collect
When you buy a Fluent skill or join our list:
- Your email address (always)
- Your name (if you provide one at checkout)
- Payment information, handled directly by Stripe (we don't store card details)
- Your country / billing region (for VAT and analytics)
- Basic analytics about how you arrived and what you looked at (page views, referrer)
What we use it for
- Delivering your purchase. Your email is how we send you the files.
- Customer support. Responding to your messages, fixing problems, processing refunds.
- Sending you updates (only if you've opted in to the list). New skills, product notes, the occasional honest update on what we're building. Unsubscribe in any email.
- Improving the product. Aggregated analytics about which skills are popular, which pages convert, which questions come up most.
- Tax and legal compliance. Keeping order records for HMRC.
Who we share data with
Only the service providers we need to run the business:
- Stripe: payment processing
- Netlify: website hosting
- Kit: email delivery
- Google Workspace: our own email
- Google Analytics: website analytics, only with your consent
We don't sell your data. We don't share it with anyone for marketing purposes. We don't pass it to third parties beyond the providers above.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can:
- Ask to see what data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct anything that's wrong
- Ask us to delete your data (subject to legal record-keeping requirements for tax)
- Withdraw consent to marketing emails at any time (one-click unsubscribe)
- Complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk if you think we've handled your data badly
Email hello@fluent.md for any of the above. We respond within 30 days as required by UK GDPR, usually faster.
How long we keep things
- Order records: 6 years (HMRC requirement)
- Marketing email list: until you unsubscribe
- Customer support emails: 2 years
- Analytics: aggregated and anonymised after 14 months
Cookies
Two kinds, and you're in charge of the second.
- Essential cookies. The minimum needed to make the site work and the checkout reliable (Stripe for payment, our email tool for confirmations). These are always on, because without them the site doesn't function. No advertising cookies, ever.
- Analytics cookies. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful and which questions come up most. These only switch on if you accept them. When you first arrive, a banner asks; choose "Essential only" and analytics stays off. We run Google Consent Mode, so nothing analytics-related loads until you say yes, and we ask Google to anonymise your IP.

Changes to this policy
If we materially change how we handle your data we'll update this page and email subscribers. The "last updated" date at the top of the page always reflects the current version.
